About ThingOS

ThingOS – The Smart Things Integrator. Our slogan describes our key expertise – bridging differences in wireless and wired sensor/actuator technologies to drastically speed-up our customers development of smart environments and industrial internet (Industry 4.0) automation scenarios. By using our technology platform (hardware and software) in the prototyping/demonstrator phase our customers can focus on solving business problems instead of low-level problems. Fast iterations (minutes instead of months) and short feedback loops guarantee that many innovative ideas can be practically tested in short time and that real added-value is identified quickly. In the product phase we support the transfer from a prototype to a product by providing an extensive rollout infrastructure as well as a cloud-based Application-Store for deploying smart applications across environments and locations. The applications run on-site which allows to keep all data locally.

Project involvement within ARENA2036

In the ARENA2036, the ThingOS Technologie Platform is connecting devices from various manufacturers and different capabilities. These can be industry devices as well as end-consumer devices. Therefore, robots, driverless transportation systems and logistic systems can communicate with each other in Industry 4.0 applications. As another application, we provide interfaces to indoor positioning systems to detect or position robots and persons on the shop floors.

As a partner with 40 years of experience, BÄR Automation offers its clients in a variety of branches customized automation and assembly systems. BÄR consistently ensures that production processes are made flexible and adaptable.

With system integration for future oriented applications of Robotic, assembly technology BÄR delivers individual automation concepts. BÄRs AGV solutions offer high levels of automation and nevertheless always stay flexible and versatile in comparison with other logistic and conveyor systems. They can be expanded as required and can be integrated into existing or dynamic production structures. With this, BÄR offers individual solutions for the modern in-house flow of materials.

Project involvement within ARENA2036

BÄR Automation takes part with the know-how in flexible and changeable automation in material flow and in-house logistics. BÄR uses its industrial experience in system planning, hardware development and implementation of innovative AGV’s.

BÄR is responsible in managing the ForschFab working package 4.2 of the start project and doing research in new innovative concepts for production logistic. The focus is set on material supply and transport of car body parts in sub- and main assembly. Especially new more flexible control concepts, safety concepts and new navigation systems are in focus of research. New developments are tested together with ARENA2036-partners in technology demonstrators.

The mobility of the future must be resource-sparing. For this, technology concepts that can be implemented in large scale are needed. As part of the ARENA2036, we would like to evaluate material and technology concepts together with our partners, which exploit the functionality of fiber composite materials and thus make them economical for the large series.

Project involvement within ARENA2036

The Bosch Group participates in two start projects of the ARENA Research Campus and is one of its founding members.

Within the project “Lightweight by function integration (LeiFu)” new solutions for design, construction and feasibility for highly integrated car components in fiber reinforced composite (FRC) are part of our research. The appropriate manufacturing processes will developed additionally.

Thereby, based on our knowledge in the sector of electro mobility – our focus is on the functions “inductive charging” and “energy storage”

The second research project “Research factory: Versatile research (car-) production (ForschFab)” aims in building up a novel and revolutionary solutions for production concepts for the versatile production of tomorrow. Our part in this topic is to provide the know-how on collaborative production assistant systems. For example our “APAS”, the first certified production assistant worldwide for the direct collaboration and interaction with humans is part of the researched scenarios within the project. ( Another focus for the Bosch Group in the ARENA2036 framework is the research on highly versatile assembly systems based on Plug&Produce systems.
