About Nokia

We create the technology to connect the world. Powered by the research and innovation of Nokia Bell Labs, we have invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has resulted in 8 Nobel Prizes, three Turing Awards, three Japan Prizes, a plethora of National Medals of Science and Engineering, as well as an Oscar, two Grammy awards and an Emmy award for technical innovation.

We serve communications service providers, governments, large enterprises and consumers, with the industry's most complete, end-to-end portfolio of products, services and licensing.

We adhere to the highest ethical business standards as we create technology with social purpose, quality and integrity. Nokia is enabling the infrastructure for 5G and the Internet of Things to transform the human experience.

Project involvement within ARENA2036

NOKIA with its research arm NOKIA Bell Labs joins the ARENA2036 to conduct disruptive research on industrial wireless solutions based on 5G to help power the fourth industrial revolution.

We envision this revolution as being driven by 5G and augmented intelligence systems connecting to a trillion sensors, systems, platforms and automata/robots over a massive scale distributed network infrastructure, supporting ultra-low latency and ultra-high capacity, reliability and security.

5G brings significant innovations such as massive machine type communication (MTC) and ultra-reliable machine-type communications (URLLC) with latencies in the order of milliseconds and jitter in the order of microseconds. Minimizing latency and jitter while increasing reliability opens up potentially lucrative new business opportunities arising from new applications that simply will not work properly if network delays are too high. We foresee that 5G will enable numerous new use cases and applications with highly flexible production modules, robot/human interactions, real-time and remote operation of machines and the support of connected AGVs.
